Today when there is a serious incident the police attend and conduct a much more thorough investigation to determine if there is evidence of criminality involved.
Once the scene is released by the police, WorkSafeBC will commence their own investigation. This investigation could lead to either sanctions under the Workers' Compensation Act or recommendations for charges to be laid in the Provincial court system.
